Jamal Farley, Producer, San Francisco
I have over 20 years of film industry experience that began in 1996, when I graduated with an MFA in Cinematography from the American Film Institute. From cinematography for clients such as Volkswagen, Hyundai and Disney, to studio lighting for productions such as Collateral, Magic Mike, and Desperate Housewives, I spent many years working in the Hollywood system.
From 2012 through 2017 I ran my own creative studio in San Francisco where I produced and directed hundreds of videos and campaigns working with dozens of software and tech companies, like New Relic, Quip (now part of Salesforce). I also worked with clients in sports and politics that included FOX Sports and the ACLU.
In 2017 I joined Picturelab, a creative studio based in Silicon Valley. In this position I produce live-action and animated corporate and commercial projects. This includes writing scripts and developing creative decks, assembling production teams, organizing production logistics, all the while making sure the workflow aligns through post-production and delivery. I also serve as the in-house director of photography and editor, when needed.
I'm passionately dedicated to independent film and commercial production, and strive to create aesthetically memorable films that clearly communicate strong messages.
